Metadata Assistant by Payne Consulting - Runner-Up in the Metadata Software Review

Metadata Assistant is not as user-friendly as our Protect (our Metadata review winner) but it is a good program that deserves a runner-up mention.

Metadata Assistant integrates with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 97 through 2003, as well as Outlook 2000 through 2003. Metadata Assistant will automatically notify users a relevant file is sent from Outlook or GroupWise message. The user is then asked if they would like to analyze/clean the document. In addition to Outlook, GroupWise and Lotus Notes email integrations are also available. The Metadata Assistant integrates with Hummingbird, iManage and Worldox document management systems.

As you can see from the attached screen shot the system is more complex and less user friendly than Protect. However, more technical users may appreciate the extra options and selections that are available directly on the main screen.

Metadata Assistant is available in either individual licenses or in an Enterprise block (32 seat minimum). Licenses are $79 per workstation for individual licenses. There is no maintenance option available for individual licenses.
