Metadata Software Review
The winner of our metadata software review is Protect by Workshare. Protect is the easiest program to use by a long shot. It won’t interfere with your day-to-day work and it doesn't overwhelm users with technical details. From a setup standpoint, Protect has excellent configuration options that allow it to be easily customized for different types of users. The imminent release of an $30/seat annual license (with no minimum level of seats) also make this one of the least expensive programs in our review!

Licensing Note - One of the first steps in selecting a Metadata solotion is determining the number of workstations that require protection. The best rule of thumb is that all attorney and team member workstations should be protected (just as they should be protected with anti-virus software). In our experience, planning that certain attorneys or team members will not e-mail documents will only end up leaving back doors through which Metadata can leave your office. Along similar lines, if an attorney often sends e-mail from a home PC, that computer should be considered for licensing as well.
